Round like the moon by Aaron Beaumont

Round Like The Moon

they tell me

i remind them of

the moon:

round,

beautiful,

a light

in the darkness.

this means

they’re the sun:

hot,

bright,

not close enough to touch,

but they still

burn me,

leaving my skin

blistered.

they tell me

they want to

feel my craters.

draw a map

of my body’s

rolls,

dips,

and curves.

get lost

in the vastness

of my

fat landscape.

we orbit each other

and finally,

when we collide

there is nothing

left of me

but ash.
