Coming Home by Ash Rotonto

This zine was created by Ash Rotonto in May 2020 as part of her Master's Thesis in Art Therapy. COVID-19 created the need for her graduating cohort's work to be accessible online. She recognizes that the personal is often political, especially when it comes to parts of our identity that are on full display. Her goal as an artist is to take the personal and imbue it with a sense of social responsibility. She creates art to give a voice to the parts of her that have been silenced, and in turn, to give a voice to parts of others that have been silenced as well. Her art allows pain and longing to manifest as a celebration--of growth, of love, of understanding, of empowerment. She hopes her work helps make you feel seen, or helps you to see others more clearly.
