Cocktail cherry butch by chiara FEHLING and Fine Elina Schmitz

Fine Elina Schmitz (She/Her) and Chiara Fehling (They/Them) met in their first year studying visual communication at Kunsthochschule Kassel and bonded over creating sensual scenes.

The lack of fashion options for fat people to feel sexy in inspired them to create a vest made entirely of fluid latex, which accentuates a real body’s figure. With fluid latex, you don’t have to fit the garment, the garment itself fits your unique form.

It took ten hours to apply the layers and perfect its glamour so that it could also be part of a drag “quing” performance.

“COCKTAIL CHERRY BUTCH” creates an idealistic world where size, gender, and conformity don’t matter. One where you could have a smoky picnic in a sunny park as a cocktail cherry butch, and the only thing annoying you are the mosquitos! “Butch” derives from a camp, femme, domme, and multi-diverse perspective.

In this case, the term “Femme” reflects not a cis identity but the opportunity to experiment with genderqueerness in a way where you are sexy only for your own gaze.

In a heteronormative and ableist world, a photoshoot like this is not only an act of empowerment but a form of protest.
